It's time for Pinvestment

2.05.2013

I'm addicted. Ok ok I admit it, I am highly addicted to Pinterest! I am addicted to all the images that fill every nook and cranny of my computer screen and every last bit of space left in my overly stimulated inspired brain. It is not uncommon for my husband to stage pinterventions from time to time to encourage me to not to waste away the hours of the night.  But to me this isn't wasted time, it's a time to absorb new ideas, paint imaginary colour palettes, eat countless treats without consuming a single calorie, live the life of a stylin' fashionista with money to burn, pet Fifi my soft and fluffy bunny and travel to exotic locations around the globe.

Decorating on the home front

1.26.2013

My sister has taken a liking to cake decorating and I like to dream that one day we will own a super sister cake decorating business together and dominate through cake... It would be called 'Suga Sista's' or something to that effect... Well one can dream.

Earlier in the year a cake decorating store opened in town and it just happened to be right after I finished my TAFE beginners course. I started reading a lot of cake decorating books and spending 30 minute plus sessions at Latorta looking at all the equipment and materials I had been learning about. I am incredibly grateful that the store opened this year as it really got me on my way to cake decorating extraordinaire... Ok so it will happen some day I am hoping!

Latorta started running classes and I organised for my sister and I to attend the beginners round class which was taught by the lovely Helena from Luna Cakes. I really encourage you to check out her work, she is finishing up her masters at Planet Cake and her cakes are immaculate, highly detailed and perfect in every way. Yes I think I am in love with her skills and I also hope I can decorate with her skill one day.

This is my gorgeous sister Susie and I with our finished cakes and this was her first ever cake course!  Look how talented she is already!

My favourite part about cake decorating is the actual decorating, but ganaching a cake is right up there!

Boho espresso

12.14.2012

Why would you eat at any restaurant or cafe twice in Perth?  Every time I walked down town I discovered a new place to eat or drink, a place that inspired me and made me stop to take it all in.

Black, grey, white and yellow are colours loved by graphic designers but to this date I had not come across a cafe that used this colour scheme- Perth changed that.  The discovery of Boho Espresso is a colour palette lovers dream come true!

Boho Espresso is located near the Esplanade at Scarborough (a.k.a Scabs by the locals).

Greens n Co

12.07.2012

After talking to a few new friends in Perth and telling them that there were some places I'd be keen to visit they booked me in for a date at Greens n Co. I hadn't previously heard of Greens n Co and to be honest I thought I was going to delicious healthy organic restaurant... But I was going to a place that to my current understanding only sells coffee and cake... big slabs of cake that feed two, possibly three or even four.

This is a cafe you should visit at night time. The ceiling is covered with a sea of warm glowing lanterns creating the perfect ambiance for intimate gatherings with girlfriends or a romantic date.

Fabulous discoveries

11.13.2012

Ok so I'm a sucker for any retro bike I see, then put it outside a gift shop with indie design, nerdy and humorous gifts that plead for me to take them home and I find myself in my happy place.

Wandering aimlessly through Perth taking in the city's atmosphere I stumbled upon a little laneway that reminded me of my travels to York in England.  My heart jumped with joy at the quaint little laneway and I dragged my hubby in to see what the lane was all about. And then I discovered Pigeon Hole nestled in Perth's Ye Olde London Court.
